Use The Major Experience (TME) to identify majors of interest and speak students who are in those majors Business Student Organizations - There are a variety of business related student organizations (all business student organizations are open to students in any major), that student can engage with to help them explore major options. Many student organizations are major focused, but many are industry focused (helping students see how many aspects of business go into each industry), or identity focused (helping students of various identies find community while developing skills and creating professional networks). LAUNCH - Be sure to read and review LAUNCH emails as they highlight events and opportunties for business students to learn new skills, explore various areas of business, and develop professional connections. Build Your Business Experience - a great summary page of various experiences available to students interested in business. Business Career Development Office (BCDO) - Career Consultants can help you identify career pathways common for various business majors and essential skills in those fields Center for Career Development (CCD) - UConn’s university-wide career center can help students better understand career pathways outside of business majors and fields Forage - offers virtual work experiences in a variety of business industries that students can try out to develop skills and explore interest in the industry - virtual work experience Micro Internships - short term, often remote, internship experiences that can help students explore a variety of industries and career pathways Now that you've had a chance to check-in and talk about major options and ways to explore further, identify 1-3 next steps the you can take in the next two months (before your next meeting with your Peer Mentor in February/March) to further explore and narrow major options. Stop Light Assessment of Student(Required) Green - student reports that classes are going well (A's and B's)and they feel prepared for finals, they feel fairly adjusted to UConn and are enjoying their time, they've engaged in some out of class experiences and feel like they are finding their community at UConn Yellow - student is doing ok in classes (possibly getting C's), they may have some unrealistic expectations about their abilities in classes or how finals will go, they have attempted to get involved but may not have stayed with anything, they may not feel entirely comfortable at UConn but are working on ways to find community Red - student reports they are doing poorly in classes (D's and Fs in one or more classes), they have not discussed this with anyone or taken steps to improve grades, they are not involved nor are they making attempts to get engaged, they feel lonely/isolated and possibly like UConn is not for them This is a quick assessment of how the student is doing this semester (overall).
