Executive Board
President - Richmond Le
After a self-administered SWOT analysis revealed that his strengths are at the crossroads of understanding scientific research and efficient service, Richmond embarked on a journey through the Healthcare Management program. During the Summer of 2020, he devoted time to deliver PPE to healthcare providers in New Haven county. During the time of uncertainty, Richmond brought stability to UConn Student Organizations through his leadership positions as the Treasurer for the Club Swim Team as well as the Director of Programming for the Healthcare Management Society. Additionally, Richmond developed the first Healthcare Management Committee within the Business Connections Learning Community to further promote the program to future innovators. Richmond is a colleague at the Lodewick Visitors Center, a First Year Experience Mentor in the Business Connections Learning Community, and a TME (The Major Experience) Mentor. His latest endeavor is learning about the world of health benefits consulting through his internship with WTW (Willis Towers Watson) for the summer of 2022. With a degree in Healthcare Management, Richmond’s aim is to address economic and social inequalities within national and global Healthcare Systems in order to maximize its accessibility.
Vice President - Esther Nguyen
Although she entered university on the Pre-Pharmacy track with the intention of eventually becoming a Pharmacy major, Esther Nguyen discovered that her true vision was to help transform the healthcare landscape from an administrative standpoint. For this reason, she is now majoring in Healthcare Management at the University of Connecticut, with a minor in Communication. Esther is the Vice President of the Healthcare Management Society, and is involved in the Red Cross Club and the Vietnamese Students Association. Beyond her academic interests, Esther is also passionate about social activism, music, and giving back to the community. She enjoys learning from hands-on experiences, and works well with others. Esther aims to one day promote positive change in the industry by addressing challenges in the accessibility, affordability, and accountability of both domestic and international healthcare models.
VP of Marketing - Allie Gasparino
Allie Gasparino is a Healthcare Management senior. Not only has she been a part of the fundraising committee within the Healthcare Management Society, she is also serving as the current VP of Marketing. In addition, she is an active member in other organizations, such as Women in Business and the SUBOG concert committee. Allie first joined to learn more about Healthcare Management and is excited to create connections with professionals in the field.
VP of Programming – Evan Levine
Treasurer – Suraj Kalaria
Suraj Kalaria is a sophomore majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology and minoring in Healthcare Management and Insurance Studies. His desire to explore the healthcare industry from a management and overall system perspective rather than solely an individual one, as a physician would, is what led him to a position on the Healthcare Management Society Executive Board. Beyond HCMS, Suraj is involved in Medical Minds Matters, a mentor for young adults within Food Allergy Research & Education, and enjoys spending time playing basketball and football with his friends. In his professional career, he hopes to become a medical physician and eventually rise to a position within hospital management where he can make a difference that impacts the greater medical system.
Secretary – Maya Piorek
Maya Piorek is currently a junior healthcare management major at UCONN. Aside from being Secretary within the healthcare management society, she is also part of Alpha Phi sorority, Alpha Lambda Delta honor society, and the Business Connections learning community. Within the learning community, she is part of the leadership team as Healthcare Management Committee Head. Maya joined the healthcare management society to broaden her knowledge of the healthcare industry, connect with professionals within the field, and meet peers with similar interests. In the future she hopes to manage a hospital or work in hospital administration!
