Jim joined The Hartford in 2003 holding several positions in the Company’s Life and Wealth Management Finance team.
In November 2008, Jim was appointed Vice President and Assistant Controller of The Hartford and was later named Deputy Corporate Controller.
In early 2011, Jim became Senior Vice President of The Hartford’s Finance Transformation program, leading a multi-million dollar program designed to gain efficiencies and reduce expenses across the Finance organization. The program included multiple work streams affecting enterprise-wide Finance activities as well as downstream internal and external customers of the Finance organization.
Starting in May 2013, Jim has served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Personal Lines, Operations and Technology and Group Benefits businesses and functions. In those roles he oversaw all Finance operations for those groups, During his time supporting Operations and Technology, Jim lead an initiative to achieve $100 million in expense reductions for that function, while during his time in Group Benefits, Jim lead the financial analysis, due diligence and integration of the Aetna acquisition. While supporting Operations and Technology Jim also was responsible for accounting, forecasting, reporting and analysis for enterprise-wide expenses.
In 2019, Jim became Chief Financial Officer of Property & Casualty and Group Benefits where he oversees the financial strategy and performance of each of our insurance businesses, including financial analytics, forecasting and business support.
Prior to joining The Hartford, Jim served as Director of financial reporting at American Skandia and rose to the level of Senior Manager at Arthur Andersen LLP.
Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a major in accounting from the University of Connecticut.
Jim lives with his wife, Lauren, in West Hartford, CT. He has three children, Mia, 25, Julia, 22 and Luke 20. He enjoys weightlifting, playing and coaching baseball, golf, cooking and Broadway musicals.
