Apply for the Student Managed Fund

We are looking for committed, motivated, and disciplined individuals who are interested in understanding the valuation of companies, and wish to see the process applied in practice. This skillset will be useful for students who wish to pursue a career in investments, money management and many other careers in finance. 

Our selection criteria include academic abilities, professional history, and an appetite for working in an intense team environment. Our holistic selection process aligns with the values of UConn and the UConn School of Business, considering an applicant's unique experiences, professional history, academic abilities, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and critical thinking. 

 

All SMF applicants must complete the following: 

  1. Online Application Form linked below 
  1. Statement of Purpose uploaded to the online application form on why you would be a good fit as a member of the SMF program (maximum of one page, 1.5 spacing). 
  1. Résumé uploaded to the online application form and a maximum of two pages. 
  • Undergraduate Storrs:  Applications are now open for the Fall 2025/Spring 2026 SMF Program.  The deadline to submit applications is Sunday, March 2, 2025. STORRS ONLY: there will also be a stock pitch component. After application submission, see email for more details 
  • Undergraduate Stamford: Applications are now open for the Fall 2025/Spring 2026 SMF Program. The deadline to submit applications is Sunday, March 2, 2025
  • SMF Graduate Team: Applications are now open for the Fall 2025/Spring 2026 SMF Program (Stamford & Hartford Graduate Students)
  • The SMF MSFERM Fund: Applications are now open for the Fall 2025/Spring 2026 SMF Program
  1. Open to all 2nd year FERM Students and entering (Accelerated Masters) FERM Students, with some business/finance background. 
  1. Regular FERM Students Must Commit to the Full 2nd Year, including the 5th Semester.
