PEER MENTOR ENGAGEMENT

We're Here to Help

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS

Peer mentors meet regularly with their mentees to check-in and help them transition to UConn.

INFORMING STUDENTS

Peer mentors create and host a variety of workshops specifically designed to help first-year students learn about business and UConn.

LEADING THE WAY

Peer mentors are readily available to students through appointments and drop-in advising, co-teaching UNIV sections, and weekly communications with mentees.

MENTOR MEETINGS

Making Connections: Peer Mentors routinely meet with their mentees throughout a semester.

Throughout the semester Peer Mentors invite their mentees to sign-up for and attend "Mentor Meetings." Mentor meetings occur at a minimum fours times a year but a student can always reach out to their Peer Mentor to request additional meetings.  These meetings are an opportunity for students to connect with an experienced, trained, and involved School of Business student.  In these meetings Peer Mentors will check-in with students to see how they are doing, ask about how the transition to college has been and what questions students have, and learn more about their mentees by asking about goals and plans students have for their time at UConn and beyond.

As a first-year School of Business student, you can always find out who your Peer Mentor is and their email address by logging into Nexus, their information is listed on your Nexus homepage.  Peer Mentors will be inviting first-year students to sign-up for a Mentor Meeting starting in mid-September so keep an eye on your UConn email!

PEER MENTOR LEADERSHIP

Peer Advisors routinely represent the School of Business in a variety of ways.

In addition to mentorship and hosting events for first-year students, Peer Mentors participate in a variety of initiatives through the School of Business Undergraduate Programs Office. Below you'll see some of the many ways Peer Mentors represent and assist the School of Business:

  • Peer Mentors send out weekly communications to their mentees reminding them about important deadlines and events.
  • Some Peer Mentors co-teach UNIV 1800 sections with advisors.
  • Peer Mentors often represent the School of Business at university-wide events like Open House, major fairs, and abroad fairs.
