Student Employment in the Office of Undergraduate Advising

The Office of Undergraduate Advising regularly employs a number of business students to assist with a variety of services our office provides.  Not only are these students leaders for other business students but they have the opportunity to enhance a variety of skills and abilities that will assist them in achieving their future career goals.

PA Staff

Peer Advisors


Peer Advisors (PAs) play a vital role in helping advise and support business students.  Peer Advisors have a caseload of first year students that they advise and touch base with through a student's first year to ensure they are getting involved in business related activities, utilizing resources on campus, and are aware of events and opportunities.  In addition to their first year mentees, they also help staff walk-in hours in the Office of Undergraduate Advising, host workshops, and assist in various office projects.

Peer International Advisors

  • Must be a current undergraduate business student
  • Must be a second year of higher
  • Fluency in a foreign language is a plus!

Peer International Advisors (PIAs) assist in supporting the large number of first year international business students.  PIAs co-teach a UNIV 1800 course in the Fall semester with a professional advisor from the Undergraduate Advising Office.  They meet regularly with students in their class and plan events for international business students throughout the year.  PIAs also help staff walk-in hours in the Office of Undergraduate Advising and assist with office projects and processes.

Office Assistants

  • Must be a current undergraduate business student
  • All levels of students welcome (we encourage first and second years to apply)!
  • Must be able to work during business hours (9am-5pm)

Office Assistants (OAs) are a crucial part of the team in the Office of Undergraduate Advising.  They staff our front desk and work on a variety of projects and processes in the office.  They are responsible for answering phone calls and emails, greeting people as they come into the office, and helping visitors with a variety of questions and requests.

TAs

  • Must be a current undergraduate business student
  • Must have successfully completed BUSN 3005
  • Must be a junior or higher

Teaching Assistants for BUSN 3005 play a major role in assisting the class instructor, Kelly Kennedy, throughout the semester.  In addition to being present for classes, they are responsible for helping grade assignments, giving students feedback on class work, and assisting with other projects associated with the teaching of the course.
