Ascend is the largest, non-profit Pan-Asian organization for business professionals in North America. Established in 2005, Ascend has grown to serve professionals and corporations across various professions and across multiple industries. Ascend reaches 60,000 people with 40+ student chapters and 18 professional chapters located in both the United States and Canada around major business hubs and educational institutions. We offer robust professional development and career enhancement programs designed to cultivate Pan-Asian talent. In addition, the National Association of Asian MBAs (NAAMBA), Ascend’s national organization for MBA professionals and students, fosters Competent, Committed, Competitive, and Collaborative global MBA leaders to fulfill diverse talent pipelines. Meet the Executive Board
I’m Kathleen Cruz, President for Ascend. I’m currently a junior Marketing major, Management and WGSS minor, and Digital Marketing & Analytics concentration. Aside from ABS, I am the Vice President of the University of Connecticut Television Station (UCTV), the Chief Marketing Officer of Business Leaders of UConn (BLU), and a mentor for the Asian Mentoring Program. In the past, I have been an extern for both AT&T and Synchrony, and I have also done some work with Target, the Hanover Insurance Group, Apcor, and Gartner. My dream is to work within Ad/Sales or Content Marketing for a media or entertainment company. Fun Fact: I have touched a whale shark and a giraffe before.
I'm Willow Yang, the current VP for Ascend UConn. I'm a Junior pursuing dual degrees in Accounting and Mandarin Chinese. I'm also a part of a few dance crews on campus, and I have leadership experiences from pledging to Alpha Kappa Psi plus being an RA, UNIV Facilitator, and Orientation Peer Advisor for the School of Business. In the future, I plan on getting my CPA and hope to work in international business at a large firm!Fun Fact: I'm a lefty for writing but a righty for most sports.
Hi everyone, I’m Steven Chen, the Treasurer of the Ascend. I am a junior Finance major, Analytics minor. I’m a part of the Business Connections Learning Community (BCLC), Real Estate Society, First Year Programs, China Care, the Asian/ Asian American Cultural Center and Global Gateways. Beyond my involvement on campus, I have been employed at Yale University, and I have received certifications from both Bloomberg and ALLDATA. My goal is to work within financial services and pursue an MBA. Fun Fact: I like working on my car when I have free time.
Hi! My name is Shreya Dhume and I am the Secretary of Ascend. I am a junior Marketing major pursuing an Environmental Studies & WGSS minor. On campus, I am also part of Women in Business (WIB), Business Leaders of UConn (BLU), and Drop the Bass all-female acapella (DTB). Over the summer, I interned with the Communications department for a music recording studio and worked part-time at a law office. Fun Fact: My proudest moment was winning a MacBook for free in a raffle at my high school graduation 🙂
My name is Miya, and I am a sophomore Accounting major. I am also the VP of IT at Ascend. On-campus, I am actively involved in many clubs. Such as being the Secretary of Korean Student Association, Fundraising Chair of Pan Asian Council, VP of Marketing at Ascend, and Vice President of UConn Yoga Club. In addition, for the past five years, I have been a regular volunteer at my local soup kitchen.
