Mentoring is a powerful opportunity to impact the individual development of undergraduate business students. Our alumni, graduate students and business partners contribute to the depth of these experiences. We run programs that can fit with your schedules from four weeks to full semesters.

The UConn School of Business seeks business professionals willing to provide students opportunities to expand their business knowledge and skillset.
When: Month of January, one hour per week for four weeks
Who: Business professionals mentoring second and third year business students.

Mentors will talk through guided leadership activities as well as discuss career and professional opportunities.

Financial Management (CFA) Mentorship

Mentors will provide industry specific career coaching/guidance to students interested in financial planning/management fields.
When: Spring semester, three to four hours per semester or more as mutually agreed upon by mentor and mentee
Who: Business professionals mentoring students in their second, third, or fourth year.

Mentors will give students resume and interview feedback. They will provide students with insight into the financial services industry. Students will be required to initiate contact and meet with their mentor at least once a month over the course of the semester. Course assignments will include a formal interview with the mentor and reflection assignments to be submitted online. Mentors will provide feedback on their interactions with students at the end of the semester.

The UConn Business Connections Learning Community (BCLC) seeks business professionals willing to provide School of Business students opportunities to expand their business knowledge and skillset.
When: Fall semester, one hour per week (some weeks may be heavier/lighter than others)
Who: Business professionals mentoring students in their third or fourth semester

Mentors will help students understand the value of a professional mentoring relationship, how to navigate and manage it, as well as other key business skills that are necessary for business students. Some examples are: résumés review, critique of LinkedIn profiles, feedback on interview skills through virtual practice interviews, as well as professional conversation and dining etiquette by meeting in-person once during the semester.
