The Financial Literacy and Innovation Program

The UConn School of Business, Financial Literacy and Innovation Program (FLIP) educates historically under-resourced high school students in the state of Connecticut on financial literacy and college/career readiness.  Through an engaging, student-centered curriculum, FLIP equips participants with the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions, explore postsecondary pathways and build skills for long-term success.

Program participants interact with UConn students who serve as instructors and mentors, faculty and staff who provide their backgrounds and expertise and corporate partners who offer real-world insight into today’s professional landscape.  Through these connections, students gain exposure to a wide range of career pathways, develop professional skills and build networks that extend beyond the classroom.

All of our partners play a vital role in enriching the FLIP experience by sharing industry knowledge, supporting programming, and helping students envision their future with greater clarity and confidence.

Why Students Participate?

Students participate in FLIP to gain practical knowledge, meaningful connections, and valuable opportunities that support their future goals.  Through engaging lessons, they build a strong foundation in financial literacy, learning how to budget, save, manage credit, invest and make informed financial decisions.  The program also provides direct interaction with UConn students, faculty, and industry professionals, giving participants insight into college life, career pathways, and real-world experiences.  In addition to these benefits, students are compensated for their time and commitment, recognizing their investment in their own growth.  Participants may also become eligible for scholarship opportunities, further supporting their journey toward higher education and long-term success.
